Our Story
From One Truck
to a National Fleet
Hirschbach’s journey began in 1935 with a single truck and a vision to provide reliable, temperature-controlled transportation.
Founded by Ray Hirschbach in Sioux City, Nebraska, the company quickly established itself as a trusted name in the industry.
Over the decades, Hirschbach grew from one truck to a national fleet, guided by leaders who shared a commitment to innovation and excellence. Ray’s son, George Hirschbach, continued the company’s success until 1997, when Tom Grojean Sr. took the helm and led a period of rapid expansion.
In 1998, Hirschbach also acquired Schanno, Greenfield, VanPack and Tri-State Transportation.
After serving as VP of Operations at Schanno, Brad Pinchuk, in partnership with Tom Grojean Jr., purchased the company in 2013.
In 2019, Brad and his leadership team acquired Hirschbach, ushering in a new era of growth and modernization.
Through strategic acquisitions — including a portion of RTI in 2020, Lessors Inc. in 2021, John Christner Trucking in 2022, and Power Transport in 2024 — Hirschbach expanded its footprint, fleet, and service offerings, solidifying its place as one of the nation’s top refrigerated carriers.
Today, we operate approximately 3,200 trucks and 5,000 trailers, delivering dedicated, expedited, and brokerage services across the country. While we’ve grown tremendously, we remain true to our roots — delivering freight efficiently and reliably, just as we did with that very first truck nearly a century ago.
